KUDOS from Kelly

by Kelly McNamara

Justina Adasti: Justina took on a new assignment with a very special, charming, elderly lady with complex needs who decided she wanted to be at home rather than a nursing home. Justina quickly assumed the major responsibility of meeting all her client’s, L H needs on a daily basis. These include, but are not limited to: using her amazing cooking skills to create tasty pureed, then finely chopped meals which brought her client’s appetite back. Her careful turning and positioning schedule and adherence to skin care protocols helped to heal her pressure ulcer. Compliments and gratitude from her client’s family as well as the VNA nurses are plentiful. So let us add our praises for her care to all the other voices. Thank you Juastina for all you do. For your client, her family and all of us!

Trevor Dube: Trevor has been the primary caregiver for E Z, a delightful, brilliant. very, very accomplished man. He was discharged from a hospital stay with significant complications. These included a great deal of difficulty walking and other medical issues. Fast forward a few months and EZ is functioning very well, walking only with a cane, and enjoying attentive daily care with Trevor who accompanies him to all therapy appointments, follows up with home therapy and in general is a wonderful companion to EZ and a support to his equally delightful and brilliant wife. Trevor’s skillful daily care, his watchfulness for any signs of complications and his ease with EZ and his wife have not only prevented any return to the hospital but have also allowed EZ to remain in his lovely home. Wonderful work, Trevor, thanks!

All caregivers mentioned in this column will receive a gift card and our sincere appreciation! Many many thanks to all of you for once again extending yourselves to ensure that we are of course Always There…!! ■
