Comfy Cotton Compression Socks

To our loyal readers:

We rarely promote a product. A movie or book, occasionally, but not usually a product. However, we are making an exception this month to promote an amazing addition to most people’s wardrobes. These attractive and easy to wear compression socks are favored by athletes, young women who want to prevent varicose veins in later life and all who are on their feet all day or take long drives or flights. Traditionally, compression socks are uncomfortable, difficult to pull on and mostly VERY unattractive.

Nancy Tella, a family member ( full disclosure ) is a veteran NICU

( Neonatal Intensive Care Unit ) Level 4 Nurse. She has developed a special type of compression sock and has introduced these to her colleagues who trialed them on their 12 hour shifts in her Boston Children’s NICU. Testers of all ages are very impressed with the quality and comfort. And fun colors!

We are especially interested in having our clients wear these and have one brave, smart, fashionable senior trying them out now. Her feedback was so valuable. Thanks B.Z!

For those of you concerned with fashion, my beautiful, stylish very pregnant daughter in law Marissa, has also tried them out and enjoyed them.

Comfy Cotton Compression socks are a cotton blend alternative to the synthetic compression socks many of us have been wearing (or not wearing even though we should, because they are so uncomfortable.)

This sock is an 82% cotton based knee high with 18% nylon/spandex and a compression factor of 20-30 mmHg.

Natural fibers- cooler and drier
Roomy toe box-= no cramped toes
Cotton top band= no binding
More cotton= easier on and off

All the benefit of compression stockings without any of the negative effects most of us have come to know and dislike!!

These are manufactured in the USA in the same factory as better-known brands but at fraction of the cost - similar cotton blends list at $35 to over $50 per pair by more well known manufacturers.

Per the manufacturer, these should be washed in cold water and hung to dry

The standard plain solid colors are navy blue, black, brown, and white at $20 per pair. Nancy offers colorful styles as well: more fun hand dyed colors as teal, magenta and others and a tie dyed version with a single color on a white sock, each for $25.

Here are some of the Q and A we have received for our brave pioneers trying out the socks:

Q: Does the color bleed or cause any allergic reaction?
A:
These are fiber reactive dyes from Dharma Trading. They are specially designed for cotton-based fabrics. the dyes/colors are completely permanent and will not wash out. These high grade fabric dyes should not create allergic reactions. Their website (Dharma Trading) states they are safe for babies
Further information is on the website: http://www.dharmatrading.com/dyes/

Q: How high is the compression factor?
A:
These particular socks can be ordered in 15-20 and 20-30. The latter are the maximum compression. Some folks with lymphedema or other temporary issues who need a higher compression factor will need to purchase the regular socks form a pharmacy or medical supply store. But these same folks can use these socks for maintenance/prevention of further problems.

Q: Why do they look different form other compression socks?
A:
There is a difference in the composition/look of the socks-- specifically the foot of the sock-- the toe box is larger so once it is put on it will be more comfortable without binding the toes-- so the midfoot of the sock looks smaller because it has compression which the toe really doesn’t need as much.

This looks unusual off but once on it is fine and you can feel the support in the arch of the sock, which is very nice.

NOTE: WE ARE CURRENTLY SEEKING PIONEERS WILING TO TAKE THESE SOCKS FOR A “TEST WALK”.

For those wiling to participate, just drop us an email at regina@alwaystherehomecare-ct.com or call us at 800.348.0485 and we will send out a complementary pair in exchange for feedback on the socks.

Thanks!
